Plating Joints in Brisbane
« on: July 28, 2008, 09:11:30 pm »
Can anyone recommend a VMX friendly mob in Brisbane for cleaning & zinc plating bike parts.

What do they typically charge - $/kg?

My recently acquired and previously unloved Husky 240 WR has every bloody part exposed to the atmosphere corroded and unfit for reuse. I'll replace the fastners but the axles, spacers etc need replating.  Cheers.

Yep, there's a place at Brendale that just did a fair size bag of bits for me for $20. Can't remember the name tonight, but I'll get back to you.

Custom Plating is the place at Brendale. Make sure you know what you deliver as some items can get lost in the process.

Thanks mate.  I trust you were happy with the quality of their work?

no, it wasn't them. I used Linco Manufacturing. It cost me $20 for front and rear axles and castellated nuts, tank brackets and bolts, both chain adjusters, rear brake arm, and a couple of other little bits and pieces.

I don't know whether you'd say it's concourse, but it took him 3 days turnaround, nothing was lost and he had to clean up all the bits first. I was pretty bloody happy with the whole deal.

Pezberg and Mainline
My error, it was't Custom Plating it's Custom Coatings. They're just around the corner from Kremzow Rd, can't recall the street or phone number, his business card is at work, and yes he does a pretty good job. He also does powder coating if you need that done as well.
His usual rate is a bucket for about $60, something about that, negotiate.

Linco Manufacturing is no more.  Went to get some parts plated and found telephone number discommected and factory empty.  Not sure when it happened but probably a sign of the economic times.  Went to Pine Rivers Electroplating near Strathpine - they do small lots for bikes etc for $50 a dipping frame.  2 week turn around - I'll see what their work is like then I guess.  Was happy with Linco.

bugger, he was a nice enough guy, seemed to do quite a few bike bits from what I saw
