CR/MR elsinore
« on: June 04, 2009, 08:43:40 pm »
Hello.
I have a CR250-73/4, it has a MR (I think, has separate lubrication with oilpump) bottom end with the CR cylinder and head. It came with the stock CR case in bits, it has a gearbox problem. So I wonder if I can put parts from or the whole gearbox from the MR into the CR engine to be able to use the stock engine?
Thanks

you can put a mr gearbox in a 1973/4 cr crank cases,i doubt it is a mr as mr250 motors are similer to 1975/6 crs.more likely you have a mt which are similer to 1973/74 cr250s.and mr250s never came to australia.they have mr as part of the engine no

mick
it has been on this forum before and it was agreed that honda never brought mr250s into australia.they were made for 1 year only 1976.i have been searching for cr250 parts since 2004 and hever came accros any parts for them in australia.i have a 250mr motor i got very chep from the states, you cant make them look like 1973/74.only internals fit and clutch/ignition cover.crank is longer on mr250.most likely a few came in via grey imports.

Ok then, so if I have a MT bottom end could I still fit the gearbox in my CR cases? It came with a tank thats like the CR tank, painted in silver with red sides, only in steel. I guess this tank and the motor came from the same bike.

the gearbox will fit in the cr.the crank is longer to enable lighting coils.

hi
you have a pre75 legal bike
1973 frame and a mt motor that is leagl throught follow on rules.
most 73/74 cr stuff will interchange in the mt motor.you can bolt a 1973/74 piston head and barrell on the mtbottom end.or you can get lozza to port it for you,he has my spare mt barrell.
cheers
