« on: January 21, 2009, 07:09:51 am »
i was told on the weekend that there has been changes made to the track at nepean for saftey reasons.the exit of the speedway corner now has a left turn back into the infeild then right turn back onto the straight.i was told this was done as people are drifting close to the edge of the track nere the start gate.50 years old now they change it.wally is this true if so what are the reasons behind it
cheers

cheers.... i hav'nt heard yet but i do know that originally the speedway bend was tightend around into a slight right hander up the [now] start straight. i assumed that the right hand kink was removed to facilitate a straight run to the left hander.[originally starts were all at the middle of the main straight.] it seems to me that a right hand kink put in might be prove problematicle adding drama to the pack as it is jockeying for a line into the left hander. i dont think i like it. however i dont yet have the facts cheers wally.

dont follow me i'm probably off line!

I ws reading this the other day regarding your whole slider thing and possibly some of the changes being felt.........

PAul Caslick - The Truth Always Hurts.
 Fri 7 Nov 2008

Here we go again. I received a phone call yesterday in regards to someone being annoyed that I want to ban sliders and this is not safe, that is not safe and some other items that I generally chose to brush off. I DO NOT WANT TO BAN SLIDERS AND IF PEOPLE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH UNDERSTANDING WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE SPORT, TAKE IT UP WITH SOMEBODY ELSE, I PERSONALLY DONT WANT TO HEAR WHAT DOESNT SUIT YOU. Could I make this any clearer but I am sick of people wasting my time and assuming what they want. If you dont understand what we are doing, maybe you should have listened at school. Here, imagine having Mason Campton, Daniel Begley, Alex Davies, Todd Kurtz, Ryan Sedjman, Justin Sedjman, Taylor Poole, Ben Shields, Chris Holder, James Holder, Hugh Skidmore, Darcy Ward, Tyson Neilson all turn up and ride at some events in their own class on machines that resembled what they want to pursue. We all know they are faster than motocross machines but so they should be, they are designed to be on these type of circuits. This discipline needs manufacture support and it is not going to happen when a slider, with a motocross engine goes out and flogs a motocross bike. The manufacturers have made that quite clear. Does it not make sense to seperate them and provide the sliders with an opportunity to grow and showcase our best future stars that want to go to Speedway GP, give me a break. Some of these riders may even want to have a ride in the motocross class, just for the fun and competition. I know Crumpy and Leigh Adams have motocross bikes and Leigh has often said how he would love to be able to ride a motocross bike like a speedway bike. So next time you want to call me and waste my time be prepared to receive an invoice for wasting my time with your crap!!!!
