Just remember to turn left, its prity easy.

Oh and if you think you cant make the corner go wide in and hit the gas it'll steer you through everytime.

Without stating the obvious can i make some suggestions ( assuming your new to FT) without sounding like an arse, just im guessing your asking for ideas ?

If you intend to place get the outside line and block it, if its got sweeping turns the fastst line seems always to be wide in , wait till you see the apex open up then come in on full gas, you'll sling shot out the corner and pick up all the guys who came in tight and as always drift wide, specially if you have a corner near the finish line, its better than a hole shot to rip over the line as you pass some dude on the inside exit move, gives me a stiffy everytime you pull it off.

Just Keep it smooth and gassed,  unless the track has a tight end bend then you can square it off and bounce off the tyre walls MX style.   IF its a nice track and not a trotting track think like your driving your car keep that width at least off the insides or wider, sticking to the inside will just slow your progress, you want to get to the point where your never off the gas and littleraly sliding into the corner, leave you brakes at home, you can keep a constant pace up if you pick a line that you can stay on the gas all the way around at a speed your happy with then as you get confident with your drift you can tune your throttle up as you confidence grows, you need room to work the bike so getting that line right early in you move to FT will really speed up your progress, dont be worried about much faster riders if you have left the right space on the inside, they can pick a line either side to come in on and will be clean, they will appriecitate that more than you bubbling around on the inside and blocking or baulking them on the apex.  Hilly if you work your line right you will have complete control and the angle will come, too tight you can only be upright and you ill never enjoy it or progress.  Look  again at the photos above , notice there track and bike position, even the left foot ( pegged) you can learn alot from those pics.

I love the feeling of angle and slide and once you get a twinge of that feeling youll never look back.

FT Looks like a lot of going round and round in circle, but particulary for us with less movent its better on the body and really fills your soul.  I think youll get a lot out of riding FT and youll find youll really be eager to run more meets and you bike will last a lot longer to, and tuning becomes more easier as you work with more constance put that all together and you feel more confident and relaxed about riding again , like when you where 10yo skidding around on wet grass, its that much fun again !

What bike are you running ? if its an MX drop the forks in the triples 2 " or so to get it flatter on a level plane, back your brakes off so you can just drag them if you need to, Jet up (1) if you think you can stay on the gas for over 50m, and clean your air box out, push front tyre down to about 8 psi, rear you can mess with - less psi more traction, higher more drift, but you can work with that on the day till it feel right.

if your into gearing take a sprocket (down) with you, you should find you can hold it in 1 -2 gears all track, and if you cant or find your stuck between a gear you can change it on the day.

there are a lot of guys out there in FT and its making a comeback, and from my experiance everyone will help you on the day.  Just go enjoy yourself and take the family, they be riding the next week trust me.

Good luck and post some pictures !

Broadford has a dogleg so it's left ,right, left  . I might have Hoony as my official photographer so we might get some good shots of the racing .

nice one.

seen the road track at broadford ( used to race scooters way back) cant say i payed much attention to the other tracks.  Close enough for me to drive there if'n they doing a State title round or somthing worth the drive ? ill come play with ya, got a few tracker so i can bring hooney something to ride as well.  Keep me posted, photos are a must.

Dog leg is good means its not a trotting track, too long and boring for the short trackers.  Sounds like a good layout then like a kidney shape is it ? if its loamy your mx front will be fine, if its hard packed dolimite it will be sketchy on the front till it brakes up, so get the good oil on tyre pressure from the others for the track.

IF you get serious pick up a 18 or 19 front wheel, chuck the disk off it ( regardless of year) for the spooler look and run a rsmall rear on it - trials, speedway or enduro your looking for a smoother profile, on the rear if your on 18" hunt down the michelin trials competiton - get you hooked up and 5 sec a lap no shit, otherwise find the softest compound trial kenda or cheng shin you can at $60 youll not care if they are soft and wear out you can eat heaps of em for the same price as an mX tyre or even find a road racer selling off 250cc or < Rain wets. (check the rim width though)

It's a kidney shape with a long straight , flat in top for the last half so it's fast into the first corner . I put up a couple of shots from practice last week in competition Viper dirt track.

mmmm..all that talk of flat track makes me wanna drag out my project and get it started. Only raced a few times but I had a ball and I luuuuurve the huge constant radius feet up slides you can get happening. I'll be giving it a few shots this year at Nudgee and I may also head down to Coffs for the Coff's Classic 8/9 March. Vintage/moderns, juniors/seniors, day/night it's a cracker of an event and lots of FUN ;)

Raymond Terrace isn't so far further than Coffs either Doc. Try and make it to the DT Nats as well.

Raymond Terrace looks like a huge track too Firko! 8) problem is I know my ol' clunker van is good for the 5 hour jaunt to Coffs but the 9 hours to Raymond Tce maybe pushing my luck..not to mention pushing the van. (off the nearest cliff!) :D will wait and see but Coffs we can do in a single day trip ;) Without a word of a lie, I think I've had about 10 minutes ride time on my bikes since the Coffs Classic in 07 but that's how my lucks panned out over the past 5 or 6 years so it's nothing new ::) 1 day I'll go nuts and ride till something other than me wears out ::)
