XR 500 R tank
« on: December 16, 2008, 02:05:30 pm »

I have an XR 500 R ('84)  tank to give away.
It has been knocked around by the previous owner.  The knuckle busters carved out ruts in the front of the tank.
It might do as a spare?

Hey Bruised...
I have been after a tank to convert into a Dakar look alike tank for my XL250R. Is yours the safety seat model or the previous version? Anyway, if it holds petrol I would be interested.

I saw a steel XR250R tank in original orange trim at the wreckers today and wondered if it would fit my '81 XL250S, I thought it would be off an '82 model perhaps. Any feedback appreciated particually what seat would go with it on the XL frame.

Yep my 82 xl is a steel tank....xl250s was the early more rounded shape and I'm not sure how well the later triangular tank would fit.
Still interested in the xr500 tank even if plastic...    :)
