Maico 4 strokes

 I was very impressed with some of the bikes shown in the 50th birthday thread . This fourstroke motor really caught my eye & I was wondering if it was a home made job or another Maico factory prototype . It appears to use the primary gear bottom end , where the prototype featured in an old Dirtbike magazine was based on the older primary chain bottom end & a crankcase supercharger setup . I will try to post a scan of the Dirtbike article .

Holeshot Buddy was going to find a pic of one Keith Stacker made years ago from a maico bottom end with a honda top end.
Paul, you maybe able to gets some pics from stacker of this one.

Here's another (earlier) 4 stroke Maico. Perhaps the one Mark is referring to. This one appears to be homemade job using another brand top end mounted on a chain primary Magnum bottom end.

Those home made 4 strokes are sooooo ugly and primitave, why would you bother. Why not try and graft a tt500 or xl350 top end instead of that lawn mower.

While I was sorting my photo files I found a few more Maico 4 strokers.
               
               
The above Magnum seems to be yet another home made conversion, this time with very agricultural liquid cooling.
               

This blue bike appears to also be a home made conversion using what appears to be a 350 and 500 Rotax engines. The caption that came with the photos describes it as a Maico prototype and I'm pretty sure Maico wouldn't have used an engine from a wreck to build the bike as is clearlyshown in the bottom shots.

Lastly here's another shot of an XT/TT powered '81 Maico, possibly the same bike as shown in Brads post.

these YAMAICO hybrids look interesting.Whats involved?Are these conversions all 500s or are tt250s a go?XR hondas?
