PVL Ignitions on 1983 Honda CR's
« on: November 24, 2008, 12:37:04 pm »
Anyone here run a PVL ignition on one of their 1983 Honda CR's?  I'm having one put on my 1983 CR480 and my "Factory Wrench" says it may be a little harder to start, because the PVL's need to spin a little harder.  I'm thinking it may also be the type of plug.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

no substance to this comment at all but I also heard iridium plugs were a help with a PVL!

They say you should use a non resister type plug with a PVL such as B8EV instead of BR8EGV.

Pssst Red, a pop up about signing in to " www Redrockets... whatever" comes up whenever I and I think others go to one of your posts now. An Ashampoo brand program I have tells me, yes it is attached to and coming from your posts, please could you maybe turn it off? as it makes some pop up blockers try to lock out your posts ;). Cheers mate Tim 754

Red, I don't have a PVL, but some of the Hodaka guys I race with use them. I hear (and have seen) they are moisture sensitive. Probably not an issue if you're in Cali.....

By "Moisture Sensitive" do you mean keep the power-washer away from it or just those dewey Fall and Winter mornings?

Might be a great race strategy to find out who runs PVLs and wake up early on race day and piss on a few side covers.

More like take the cover off after every ride/wash and get er dried out. When they're working right, the bikes run strong. I wanted one for my Super Rat, but after seeing the problems I changed my mind.
