Not really VMX, but close! Who do YOU trust to rebuild your motor WR360

Gudday all,
Just testing the collective knowledge pool...
So I've gone to change the gearbox oil in the mighty 2000 model WR360 and it's come out silver. Lots and Lots of metal chips and shavings. Really ugly. The motor is about due for a complete rebuild so I'm thinking I'll suck it in, get a complete like new rebuild and she'll last another 8 years I hope. No way I'll ever sell this one!
So my question is, who do I trust to do the job well for a reasonable cost? I live in Brisbane but am not worried if I have to box the motor up and send it somewhere. Any one have any good experiences lately? No one that I know of really instills great gobs of confidence into me locally.. Suggestions anyone? I'm happy to do top ends etc but this'll be a split the cases, new main and rod and what ever's gone wrong in the 'box kinda job.

that dont sound to good, id probally  get it split before you agree on a price, youd be surprised how quickly those motors add up in parts to the point you can buy 2 more for the same price.

i think there is a cheap, good rebuilder in Tassie  :O)

Full Throttle motorcycles in slacks creek are the Brisbane Husky dealers, I'd assume they would be the best place to take your husky.
My son races a Husky boy, so I shop there a bit, they seem O.K.
Can't vouch for their workshop though.
 DON'T take it to Northstar Yamaha.

Yeah, Full Throttle doesn't really instill great confidence.. In fact the whole Moss street thing gives me the heebie jeebies.
I'm looking for a first hand report from someone who's had work done and is happy. I'm thinking it'll probably be a 3k exercise by the time I'm finished... ouchy ouchy ouch.. I'm the kinda guy who is shamed when he can't do my own repairs but I just don't have the set up to press cranks etc.

You don't have to press cranks at home, get this done somewhere and do all the disassembly/assembly your self to save money. bottom ends are easy, you just have to check as you go. lay every thing out as you take it apart. keep things seperate like clutch side in one area, ignition in another, gearbox internals in another ,etc etc

Yeah, I know your right and ideally that's what I'd do. BUT where I'm living at the moment doesn't really have the setup to do that, where you can leave a motor apart with confidence that it's not going to get contaminated with dust etc. Think share house, big old Queenslander on stilts with open area underneath. Cracker place, great area but no decent workshop... She got that  I got my sanity. Good swap I thought! Plus next year I get to race WHATEVER event I like!

I try to do most of my Husky motor work myself , but I get Paul Rooney to do any porting work that I want done . He is an old school former Husky dealer & ex 500GP roadrace mechanic & lives just south of Ballina , not far off the Pacific highway . I usually drop something off & pick something up on my annual pilgrimage to Classic Dirt events  He currently builds his own custom bikes to order for people all around the world & specializes in BMW motors . He is usually very busy ,because he is a one man show , but that is who I would send my motor to if I was going to pay someone to do it .

Oh, now i understand, yes i know the old queenslanders well , grew up in them as a kid aye, no worries mate.

good luck with the rebuild, Rooney sound like you man a 3 hour drive to ballina then .
