RaceTech Gold valves on a Husky - anyone done it ?
« on: November 12, 2008, 08:07:47 pm »
HI

I rode a buddy's YZ 465 equipped with some the Race Tech Gold Valves kit.

I was blown away. Probably a little too soft for the bigger stuff, but plusher than I could imagine possible !

I am comparing this to my KTM 250 1983 and white Husky 500XC. Both have been fully rebuiilt with new seals, polished tubes etc etc. They feel good - but not in the same league as the modified YZ.

I had a quick look and while I didn't see a kit listed for Husky's - I am sure youu could make something work for the correct size forks..

Anyone here done this for Husky's ?

All comments welcome

maybe some info here

http://ozvmx.com/community/index.php?topic=854.0

Race Tech cartridge emulators (for damper rod forks) and Race Tech Gold valves    (for shocks and cartridge forks)are 2 different things though.

being 465 forks i believe they would have 'cartridge emulators' but yes they are also gold, but are not the 'Gold Valve'. just thought i would point that out  :)

sizing charts on website-measure your forks to find out what ones to use. or if you want YSS ones just contact them :)

Hi,
I completely remachine and modify the rods to accept YSS PD Valves and they work really well. I have all my race bikes modified ie
1974 MAG 250,1976 WR 250 ,1976 Auto,1983 CR 250,1983 XC125and my 1984 TE 510. My TE 510 and 83 CR 250 have PD valves and they do not bottom out even when we race them modern tracks that have big jumps and stutters. If you need any info have a look on my website www.huskyparts.com.au .Give me a call if you need any further info.
Are you from the East Rand  Transvaal area or from Cape Town ?
Thanks
Fernando

Yes Fernando from Husky parts in Sydney has lots of expirience with that mod . It works well and worth the money . Fernando has also undergone factory training and is a stockist for the PD Valves and special YSS Husky shocks. He is local and deserves the support of the VMX fraternity.  ;) So why pay more for overseas products , when you get them cheaper here and the backup as well  ?

Can I do this modification with original springs?
I havent even got to try my 35mm forks, and this sounds very good.

Depending on your weight and existing springrate , you sometimes can.
