The blurb says "This bike uses 1975 tanks with the notch in the top (it has two tanks. The other tank is a yellow plastic with the top notch)". He goes on to say it's straight out of the crate from Maico.

So I'm wondering if it comes in the crate with two tanks?
Is this standard Maico practice for this model?
I ask because my '75 model 326 has the plastic tank and I'm wondering if changing to the coffin tank still keeps it true to the model.
Gurus? Police? Anyone, anyone?

That looks like a '76 Maico to me. The '75 had a plastic tank as far as i know so don't know what he's talkin about. The '75 also had moved forward shocks not laydown like that bike.

Problem is the Alloy Tank has  a paint job that I have never seen presented as factory. I have seen some, but not presented as factory( not saying it could't have happened)-the 76 alloy tank was a more dull finish also.

Given the propensity of Maico to use whatever parts up, it is difficult if not impossible to dispute this bike as a very late 75 model( think of a very early 76). Still, I think the alloy tank has been polished and painted. If I were really really cashed up, it would be nice to collect-but I think Wombat's 326 is waaay cooler personally.
