More than 400 people turned out to pay their last respects to former Oxford Cheetahs favourite Simon Wigg at a special thanksgiving service at the Church of Christ in Milton Keynes yesterday.
Wigg died earlier this month from a brain tumour.
A host of world champions, including Hans Nielsen, Sam Ermolenko, Kelvin Tatum and Gerd Riss, and many European friends and fellow riders were there in tribute to a man who was a champion in all three disciplines of motorcycle sport. Speedway Longtrack and Grasstrack
There was a large Oxford following, headed by former promoters John Payne, Bernard Crapper, Chris Shears and current promoter Vanessa Purchase, plus a good number of Oxford fans.
A private family ceremony followed the service.
