I have been trying to get hold of this bike for years, it's a 1984 world championship winning ex Simon Wigg Jawa 897 (One of six he had that year), This power on thing comes on that strong it's ridiculous, make a 490 Maico feel like a XR75 
 I intend on cam-ing it down to a more rider friendly level and ride it on our private track from time to time
 Let the fun begin,.. by the time I am finnished with it, it will be a stunner!

i have see both wigg brothers race at nepean on dirt track.
also at liverpool ove funden and oli olsen great blokes i was in the pitts working as a bike pusher and fueler what a great night that was

The bike was bought of Simon here in Australia after the 84 season by a guy named peter Rhodes,(who put the silly seat on it and if you look closely the Kangaroo is pooing out a union jack!) He raced it for a few years and then he sold it to a mate of mine who finaly cracked and sold it to me last week..

Very nice, I was lucky enough to be a spectator at that meeting, it was a good'n got it on tape somewhere,have to find it an refresh the memory

Wigg was a regular in aussie speedway and a promoters dream, exceptional rider and showman. he raced many big speedway meetings out here.

Sadely he is no longer with us and died though Illness about 4 years ago i think.

i last saw wigg ride at the Ivan Mauger promoted 1989 Australian long track Grand prix at Bathurst Showground (800m track) he was pulling mono's the whole length of the main straights while leading and only putting the front down to put it into the corner , awesome to watch time after time.

A brain tumour took Simon Wigg in 2000   RIP  Racing on the back wheel forever now.

Speedway: Tributes paid to Wiggy

More than 400 people turned out to pay their last respects to former Oxford Cheetahs favourite Simon Wigg at a special thanksgiving service at the Church of Christ in Milton Keynes yesterday.

Wigg died earlier this month from a brain tumour.

A host of world champions, including Hans Nielsen, Sam Ermolenko, Kelvin Tatum and Gerd Riss, and many European friends and fellow riders were there in tribute to a man who was a champion in all three disciplines of motorcycle sport. Speedway Longtrack and Grasstrack

There was a large Oxford following, headed by former promoters John Payne, Bernard Crapper, Chris Shears and current promoter Vanessa Purchase, plus a good number of Oxford fans.

A private family ceremony followed the service.
