Dual rate monoshock?????
« on: August 29, 2008, 09:54:40 pm »
I got this shock with YZ250H which has two springs on it (seems standard  plus a small one about 3inch). Shock body has extra grooves for spring seat and a nylon type spacer/retainer between springs. There is also   "C P" stamped on body. All looks professionally done. Was there a dual spring kit available or is this someone's experiment. Any theories on this. Will do pics soon as.

I think alot of people would change the the standard progresive wound spring on the "h" models for and earlier model Dual rate springs, I have a Gaythorne yamaha one (Qld) done back in the day, also read a T&T article about as well a while ago. Gave a better ride apparently.

Combining the dual spring with a good piston and better shim stack it should be a good working shock

Why was the dual rate springs prefered over the progressive wound ones?

The main spring seems to a standard progressive one from my comparison to other springs.

All I need for my 465 monoshock is a dual rate spring setup just like these. so can anyone point me to one of these? I think it is what Yamaha really needed. or maybe there is a sp[ring manufacturer that someone knows?
