Kickstart rubber
« on: March 16, 2017, 02:13:27 pm »

Chasing a kick start rubber for the Albion gearbox in my Dot.  The ones I have been using last about 3 or 4 starts and they are rooted, I buy them now 2 at a time.
They are around 70mm long with a 12mm to 13mm ID, I haven't been able to find originals and it seems most aftermarket products are shit.

Hi Zane,

Try Villiers Services in the UK. Steve is good to deal with and he sells all the bits for Villiers powered bikes. You can either phone or email him. Probably better phoning.

PS  He has a decent website.

Thanks Mick sounds good, I will fix you up for whatever it owes you.   Let me know where to pick it up or if your passing call in for a drink.

Black High pressure 12mm ID pumping hose (fire fighting stuff) from your local farm supplies type agency. (Elders, CRT, Murray Goulburn ect) About $13 a metre, cut your needed length and bang it on with a soft face walloper after immersion in hot hot water.  ;)
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

Yeap, that's the go Tim. That pressure stuff with the layers of strengthening woven throughout.
I had a Maico when I was a kid. Machined head for extra giddy up compression.
250, so no decompressor.
Lucky to have sand shoes or Jim boots to ride and kick with back then. So yeah, really liked a rubber on for comfort.

so easy to cut radial and lateral groves in it as well.
Machine a tapered leader up to press it on if you have to. They lasted heaps.

"light weight, and it works great"  :)
