Casterton Hill Climb - Saturday 1 April 2017
« on: March 12, 2017, 11:03:12 pm »
Dirt bike riders from Western Victoria and SE South Australia might remember the Casterton Hill Climb which ran in the 1980s and 90s, and briefly returned in the early 2000s. 'Blueberry Hill' situated at the end of the main street provided plenty of challenges for riders, and entertainment for spectators.

Now the event is returning after more than a decade! Riders will be timed. There are two classes, of competition - 250cc and under, and 251cc and above. There's prize money on offer. It will take place on Saturday 1 April 2017. Pre-entry is recommended as the event will be capped at 90 riders.

A great day's entertainment with 77 entries, and even a handful of vintage bikes, plus a big crowd of spectators (1000+). There was a cleverly placed corner right at the start that made getting that all important momentum very tricky indeed. Some spectacular falls, and plenty of blokes who made it look easy. I was left regretting that I didn't bring a bike and have a crack. Next time!  :-\
