I have never shipped a bike to Aussie ( bought a few back ) but never sent one . Tell a lie i posted a TS 90 MX to Brent J in Darwin and a rolling speedway bike to Freaky in SA both through NZ post as parts . NZ Post has a 20 KG per parcel limit so complete motors cannot be sent this way .
I had 2 very good mates both forum members send bikes to Aus with very different outcomes. DJ who is sadly no longer with us crated and sent his Nogouchi to Brisbane by air freight along with riding gear and spares . He used a metal and cardboard bike crate well packed and labeled. We then flew to Brisbane, rocked up at the freight company to collect the crate . They sent us to a customs building where to this day i still have no idea what DJ told the girl he was dealing with but within an hour and a half we were driving away with the crated bike in our rental Hiace on the way to CD 5 Via Brads place to uncrate the bike .
It cost DJ five eighths of FA in fees ( we spend more in gas driving to Raymond terrace for CD5 than he paid in fees )
DJ may have got lucky ( he had a natural gift of the gab and bundles of charm and could plead ignorance with conviction ) so maybe that helped, Sadly DJ has taken that secret with him to the grave
.
Another good mate had a bike shipped from NZ ( arranged by the kiwi seller ) by sea freight i believe ? and it turned into a horrendously expensive nightmare for him . This bloke also has the gift of the gab and bundles of charm and is a shrewd businessman, but still got stung by the authorities .
I think shipping the thing is the easy part, put in a crate and send . Just make sure you have all your ducks in a row at the Aussie end first .
My postal options were easy and actually not that expensive, but one was a mini bike and one a speedway bike less motor .
The too examples above are extremes i think one good one bad, lots of guys on here bring in bikes from the US so ask them about the red tape . I can crate up and deliver to the airport or docks for you but then its over to you and Aussie red tape .
On the plus side i dont believe you need any paperwork like the US to export bikes from NZ ?
