There's actually one on Gumtree in Aus, a bit uglier than that. The owner told me they were worth $10k restored & he ONLY wanted $3.5K for his (& don't bother making offers), needs $5k+ thrown at it at least though! Don't think either of those will be selling anytime soon. They are not as rare as you'd think. Just my opinion though

There far from the best Auto. There is a reason Shoey does not have one for his everyday vinduro bike. There are lots of them on USA ebay sites. At that price that may take a while to move.

But it is not an Auto . It is a 6 Speed manual and I don't know why the AE part is in the item description . I am a fan of the 500 Auto , but not as an enduro bike . Husky should have made them as a 500AMX for motocross , like the 500 Automatic works bike ridden by Bo Edberg in the '83 GP season .

I rode a Husky Auto once on a MX track.  It was weirdest thing I had every ridden.  Absolutely no engine breaking.  Yes I know two strokes don't have a lot of engine breaking anyway, but when there's none you do notice it.

The only thing I rode later that was as strange was 2000 Maico 500.  Again for some reason almost no engine breaking.  You could probably get used to it, but it was strange.

If you chop the throttle completely on an auto Husky, everything free wheels & you actually pick up speed. You need to have a deft throttle hand & keep it slightly open all the time to retain the drive. Once you get your head around it, you can ride them real fast!

I disagree mick, I figured that it just shows how much time you spend on a normal two stroke using engine braking to line your self up in a corner. really bought home the brake hard, power out philosophy to me.

back to the post...its got to be from Nigeria isn't it? lister seems to know3 5ths of f*call about huskies....

an 84 500 wr is a nice ride, the motor has been sorted and delivers 400 style power but just a bit stronger. much easier to ride than the xc / cr 500's. I believe the one above is an xc according to his advert.

Back in the day my riding mate and me raced out and bought Honda XR 250's in 84. Six months later I sold mine and bought an 84 Husky 125 , he upped the anti and bought an XC 500 it was like he'd never recovered , slowed him down a bunch and beat him to death. He was way slower in the bush than on the XR.

I rode one back then once...once was enough. would have been good in the desert but in hard packed central vic ground, it just wheel spun, stepped sideways at every opening of the throttle and just wore you out hanging on to that sudden hp. I wish I had ridden the wr back then, totally different bike.

watched a bloke at bbb this year on an xc on the mx track...stepped out every time he tried to get on it....nothings changed
