Finally started taking bits off for the clean up - well, seat, side plates and rear guard.
Would you believe it - no matching bolt pairs have been found. All 6 bolts removed so far are different, make that 8 if you include the front caliper. I see a full bolt kit coming on... Oh, and the air filter looked like it's hasn't been cleaned, oiled or replaced in decades. Will be real interesting to see inside the motor!!!!
Rear guard probably wasn't in too bad condition until the previous owner flipped it. Some light scratches, but generally clean & shiny. Shame about the big bend and crease. I started scraping back the part that fits under the seat, then wet & dry to practice bringing back the finish. I definitely need to spend more time and elbow grease to get this technique up to my standards, so am happy I'm practicing on a piece that isn't going back on the bike!
