Suzuki TM/TS 125cc 1976 engine parts Wanted !!
« on: November 03, 2016, 07:02:31 pm »
Hi all,

I'm helping a buddy get his 1976 TS125cc up an running. Does anyone have any surplus engine bits for sale and/or a complete engines?? Running or not running?? Also, is there anything worth noting in regards to what parts or models will be compatible/interchangeable with the 76 model?? Any tips tricks would be greatly appreciated!! Prefer the tm parts to make her a bit quicker but open to ts engine parts. Cash paid!

Thanks in advance!!

76 was the last of that style. same engine basically in the earlier models even though they are silver not black.  Forks and hubs are almost the same on all the small ones 185 and below apart from the 74 75 185 that ran a 21 front with a larger and lighter front hub and they will bolt on to the TS125. TC125  top end is close to the same as the TS but the gearbox is different with a Hi lo range. clutches are the same with the 185 having an extra plate. TM have rack and pinion clutch  but it can be converted to the TS. Look for TM triples as they are ally and grab some ally rims . Doc would be the man to ask about these little things.

1976 had extra ports compared to earlier model TS125's (look at difference in base gaskets as a giveaway and 4 short cylinder studs), cylinder and head are interchangeable with 75 only RM125M and S models. Gearbox internals are interchangeable with the TM stuff. 28mm carb with a rm125m top end and GMC pipe would make it lively on the street or track. Frame can very easily be modified to take an early ts 185 engine if you run an underslung pipe.

I built a hybrid using a rm125 s frame, ts 125 motor giving me a nice well suspended registered trail bike. (frame number didn't match the rego....) I corked the crank on the ts motor, mildly cleaned the ports and modded the baffle on the ts pipe. it pulled like a185 off the bottom but signed off quick. was a neat bike to ride on the road in 1980. Now, the rm 125 s motor in the old ts frame was plain frightening. I couldn't fit up the back brake as the rm's was broken and I filched the ts one to use.

4 gears on the ts /rm and then front brakes only saw ol mate do the face plant pf the century :o

I learnt to recognise the symptom's of concussion from that incident.

Damn I like that little red thing. about the only 125 i think i would ever want.  i also seem to recall the little TSM  giving lessons on how it should be done but Im sure most of that was the rider.

Think I have a TS 125 bottom end, no idea on condition or year, bought it with no barrel years ago so I wouldn't put any faith into the condition of the big end.
Can drag it out for a look if your interested.

The 125 run a slinger or direct oil feed to the RH bearing, best idea suzuki have had for years just like the larger bores do so but its an old engine so changing the Rh seal could prove benificial  but the bottom end will be like factory... the 76 was the last of the non reed engines and the better of that series if your considering keeping the bore but just touching it up.  perhaps stick it in a lighter frame as weight will kill its competition value, the 185 frame is lighter than the ts and TM 125 frame with better brakes(crap anyway) and 21' front wheel, and as CG has stated, One engine mount is all that needs altering. A decent pipe and larger carb  with weight reduced to a three wire electric system and tabs removed plus plastic tank could have a quite a nice fun ride.
