cast iron barrrel flange can it be fixed with epoxy

my road t140 triumph was bought with a fully rebuilt motor yes mostly correct BUT!!!!!!!!!!
the barrel has been sitting in water and po thought the gasket would seal the barrel to crankcase were the corrosion is
which is also were the oil passage is to the exh rockers
will exopy fill the barrel flange back to std and re drill the oil way hole

I'd say you could do an effective reliable repair using Devcon type putty.
If you love it, lube it.

Why not just braze it? It takes skill though to weld cast iron and not get cracks but it can be done for sure.

I'd say you could do an effective reliable repair using Devcon type putty.

Devcon would certainly do the job Jim as it is not a load bearing or pressure area. You can quite easily weld the cast iron with a high Nickel content rod, but it will be much easier to control the application and get a good finish with the Devcon.

brazing will probably last lot longer than epoxy when done right.

yep,in the oven for a preheat,as its around the ex tappett block oilfeed from case 1/2,theres a bit of oil pressure involved,besides they leak there anyway with good surfaces( snigger snigger) fugging tip jockey,shoulda bought a beezer, :P

 but had an expert engine builder look at it and its for the tip only or a paper weight
