Bike Stand Designs
« on: July 01, 2016, 09:48:56 pm »

I needed to get a new bike stand for my Cotton.  The bike is fitted with an under pipe and the old stand used to locate to the frame though a hole on side of the frame under the motor.  Trouble was that you had to almost lay on the ground to fit the stand into the bloody holes.  I've been looking unsuccessfully for a while now for a suitable stand design that would fit the frame around the pipe and not be to complicated to make.
Well I put a bit of thought into what I wanted, first it had to do the job, next I wanted something that didn't chip the frame like many of the rocking type stands do and it shouldn't take up to much room when travelling.  I have just finished what I think is a perfect stand for a bike with a reasonable low slung pipe, it lifts using the rocking action, the top cradle that locates under a bend in the frame pivots on a couple of bolts so that it remains in the correct position to fit up under the frame even when it is lowered right down to slide under.  This means it won't chip the frame with the end of the saddle mounts as it is rocked back over centre it just lifts straight up, the handle is removable for transporting.  The saddles are now fitted with rubber and a bit of red paint never goes astray.

Everyday I find one more name to add to the list of people who piss me off.
