a klx swinger goes in pritty easy and the distance between the s/arm pivot and bottom shock mount remains the same just the swinger is another 50mm longer then stock TT500 or ask brentj about using the pe/rm swingers

DR500 alloy or DR400/500 & SP500 steel are pretty good options. They are all the same dimensions. 508mm from pivot to center position of axle slot. Pre 79 RM and pre 80 PE are all 508mm too but i am guessing you want alloy? Also look at the late 70's KX and KDX alloy ones.
Wanted - 1978 TS185 frame or frame&motor. Frame # TS1852-24007 up to TS1852-39022

DR400/500 & SP500 - 393 pivot to shock mount
80-82 PE250 & 400 - 534 pivot to centre of axle slot and from pivot to shock mount 330 +/- mm
79-80 RM250 & 400 - same length as PE but the shocks mounts bit closer to pivot and have better clearance at lower mount for spring retainer and you don't need long eye mounts or require cutting the gusset like on the PE's

Keep in mind that shock mounts closer to the pivot will not always give you more travel. Only will if you can fit a long enough shock with enough stroke and also not have your swingarm/chain angled down too much. Sprocket sizes also help determine limits. Often having the shock mounts closer to the axle will allow a longer shock with more stroke to fit at the same swingarm angle with as another with shorter shocks with mounts closer to the pivot, therefore giving more travel. Unless you find someone else has done the exact same modifications beforehand and done all the work, you will have do your own research and experimentation to find out what will work best.

A lot of these s/arms will require some sort of modification to the front end as well to match the rear.

I scored the swing arm for $20 & the wheel for $40 at the goulburn swap meet over the weekend. Not sure what the swing arm is off, but it has will fit KLX & XT written on it in texture. Jimson

thats a klx swinger and youll need to make some stepped weld in washers because the pivot bolt is smaller then the tt bolt,on the wheel end you need about a 1mm washer/spacer to correct the chain alignment and the same added to the chain guide and thats about it

Oh and original bearings and spacers are extinct. However you can get tube spacers and bearings that work with both the internal diameter of the swingarm and the OD of the original swingarm  bolt.
There should be top hat bushes already on the shock mounts. Looks like your swingarm has them. Do't mislay them as Kawasaki parts supply seems pretty sparse.
