That's such a loss for family &  friends. It's times like these I'm lost for words. Life goes on,but the loss is always there when  the people that have left are so valuable to all concerned. DJ  will live on in your hearts & minds.jimson

RIP my old mate.

Why do they take the good ones?

I had the honour & privilege to meet DJ (& TM Bill) & a whole bunch of other blokes when I went over to NZ with Steve Sweeney a few years back to do a round of the series over there.  A nicer bloke you couldn't want to meet. I had just finished working on Steve's YZ400 & we were enjoying a few cold ones & he asked me even though a bike had been organised for me if I could ride any bike what would it be? I replied I had a soft spot for the old YZ125E. "Got one" he says, "let's go to my place for a look".

We bundled into a couple of cars & after a short drive we were at his place. One bedroom dedicated to bikes & bits & the YZ125 was in the lounge\bar. He said the last time it was ridden was about 12 months ago & he won some big championship on it. He wasn't sure if it would go & the back tyre was perished. I pushed the kickstarter by hand just to feel the compression & bloody thing started. DJ laughed & said it was a sign from the gods (Or words to that affect)

He rang some bloke and arranged a new tyre to be there first thing in the morning. I offered to pay for the tyre or at least some of it & he would not hear of it.

We had a great day & even better night as it was their presentation night after racing.

Only hanged with him for those couple of days but that was enough for me to know he was a one of a kind. (The good type)

Bill, please pass on my condolences to his family & friends. Thanks

Hold it wide open DJ.
