ive used washing machine pump but some need a seal change to handle the diesel/kero/petrol,you can make a filter that goes on the drain pipe out of various sized tin cans stacked inside each other and good find catching the little bits that shouldnt have gone down the drain pipe.if you want to use a pump with a spin on filter 6 cyl holden pumps work well also but alot more stuffing around making pump end plate/drive shaft

Some good ideas there Matt,
I like Huskys idea, I gather the idea is that the kero floats on top of the water and solids held in suspension settle out of the Kero into the water and are trapped there and don't return back into the Kero.
What a great idea 8)
Coupled with a Holden red six pump and spin on filter to draw of kero above the water level, brilliant!

the wrecker uses a garden hand held trigger spray to wash the kero/diesel mix off and hes got a pipe that runs from the bottom of the tank to above the kero and it self drains as the water is going in and use to go into the sewage pipe untill the epa went mad about doing things like that now he pipes it out to deep large trays that evaporate the water leaving the shite behind.

with the 6 cyl holden pump you need to bleed alot of the flow back to the tank as they pump way too much for a parts cleaner
