Vintage MX rider
« on: May 18, 2015, 06:31:00 pm »
I've recently taken delivery of a (cosmetically) restored 1981 RM125X.
My second.
The first one, I bought new in 1981 (and sold it in 1982)

I'm currently "Race Preping" it.
Although I'm old and slow, I'm planning to ride it at my favorite local track: Conondale, and some "back in the day" tracks: Dargle, Lakes. Before I hang it on the wall.
(I occasionally race a modern MX bike. Too many events have 35+ as their "oldest" class, what about us "Veterans"? What about a 50yo+ class?? ????)

I'm on the Sunny Coast,QLD,  but often travel south to the Newcastle area.

Thanks guys.
I've paid for "Classic Dirt 11" at Conondale in June.
I'm hoping I'll have the bike up to spec by then. (And fingers crossed "work" doesn't get in the way.)

Look for an old white van that looks like a tour bus for a struggling '70s rock band, and say hello. 8)

That's pretty cool having RM125X.  Like you I used to own one for a couple years since new and what a great bike it was.  Its rear suspension was unbelievable.

Here it is at "Vintage Dirt" this year - first ride - lots of "shakedown" problems.

Bring it down to Harrisville on the 12th, or if that's no good try 26/27th. Check out Brisbane MCC website for details.
