RM80N/T and DS80 motor?
« on: May 29, 2015, 09:40:01 pm »
Talking twin shock DS here:

Will the DS motor bolt into the RM frame?
Will the RM intake and exhaust bolt up to the DS motor?
Is the DS gearbox wider ratio?
Anything else?

Nathan, I did just that in reverse recently, well, sort of !! Early twin shock RM 80 motor into a mono DS 80 roller, everything bolted right up, RM intake manifold is larger.

RM 80 NT

1- 36/14
2 - 34/18
3 - 30/20
4 - 25/20
5 - 26/24
6 - 25/26
Final reduction - ratio 3.425:1 - 14/50

Cylmer DS manual does not have DS gear ratios so will have to look them up on Alpha_Sports

78 DS80C

1 - 36/?
2 - 32/19
3 - 29/22
4 - 26/24
5 - 24/26

Final - 14/?

Thats all i could come up with looking at parts book.  Not sure if these are exact years you are comparing but there is gearbox difference between 78 and 80. 5 v 6 speed.
