Not discouraged but very disappointed for all the riders who travelled or were travelling. We tried our very best but the final straw was a massive 35-45min down pour at 3am this morning. 100-200mm of water over many parts of the showground, particularly the start straight and landing area off the jumps just made it too risky to race. There is nought we can do about the weather. We tried to keep everyone informed on when decisions would be made.
We have already made initial discussions with our contacts at Glocester to hopefully return later in the year. There were 122 entries with at least 10 more who had contacted use.
10 Pre65s
11 Pre70s
we are slowly rebuilding the numbers in these classes.
we are very pleased with that
Even had Jonesy enter his beautiful Metisse along with 2 other Metisse (is that the plural of Metisse?
) 3 Bultacos, 1 Husky, 1 Maico, 1 Royal Enfield and 1 Jawa in Pre65
The club made some donations
$500 to Gloucester Rotary club for their 'Safe biking on the Buckets Way' fund raiser (this the reason they run the Motorcycle Expo)
$500 to the Dungog/Stround flood relief fund which were the areas hard hit recently and only 40min away from Gloucester.
It was a bit confronting as we drove to and from Gloucester to see the cars and caravans in Stroud that had been washed away a week or so ago. Seeing a Toyota Hilux sitting vertically in a tree sort of brought the cancellation of our race meeting into focus.
