TY 250 A Exhaust Tab on Rear of Frame
« on: March 06, 2015, 02:56:06 pm »
Any chance someone could post a picture of the exhaust mounting arrangement at the rear of the frame ?

Someone has butchered mine.  Otherwise the frame is good and ready to be blasted  8)

Thanks in advance guys

Have a look part way down the page, they're a fairly simple bracket. Can't take a photo of mine as it is away having the swingarm extended & is a C anyway

The original is a woefully thin steel tab made with a dish to stiffen it. They last until the first time the muffler gets a decent hit

Yep, that's obviously what has happened David.

I might try and knock up something a bit more robust.  Is there a common fix ?

Thinking about Grinding that tab off altogether and using one of these.  I measured the frame tube and there is enough room for a layer of foam door seal in between the bracket and the frame tube.  The strut to the silencer goes between the flanges and bob's your aunties husband.

Question is will the part that goes around the frame clash with the rear guard ?

Whadyareckon ??

Your overthinking it Tony, go down to ENZED hoses and get a "P" clip that holds hydraulic hoses on trucks/earthmoving vehicles. Just get the right diameter.

if you are using a standard shape rear guard there is a suitable gap between the inside of the frame tube and the mudguard for the hydraulic line clip that Davey Crockett suggested. I used a strip of thin stainless steel that looped over the frame tube for that purpose for many years on one TY
