Honda 2 stroke

Not VMX but sought of relevant: Rumor has it (from a usually reliable source) that with the new FIM motocross rules coming into action, that Mr. Honda has entered a CR250 2 stroke in the 2009 Japanese supercross series. This series is generally where all the big four manufacturers do their testing. Maybe it's true. Has anyone else heard or know of this?

But given the new FIM rules, maybe Honda has had a rethink...
It's one think to say "no more 2-strokes" when they're hopelessly uncompetitive in class, but its less easy to stand by it when they're given the upper hand.

Has Honda said anything since the FIM announcement? If not, then I'd take all earlier announcements as being under a cloud.

With the 450 4-stroke coming back to 350cc in the next few years a 250 2 stroke will suddenly be competitive again. Maybe the lap companies will build new 2 strokes again?

No doubt someone else will provide a link with the full, correct info, but its something like:
1. No capacity advantage for 4-strokes.
2. MX1 is limited to 350cc.
3. FIM Junior championships are specifically restricted to 2-strokes.

Another reason for the honda 2 stroke redevolopment is the mad rush in the U.S. this year for 250 two strokes to race against 250 4 strokes in the amateur ranks.
An article in one of the U.S. mags recently outlined complete sellout of all 250 2 strokes, with some parents importing them from other countries so thier kids coulbe competitive in the class.

For those scratching their heads right now, the a.m.a ruling for '08 allows 250 two strokes to race against 250 4 strokes in the amateur ranks.
