Thats fantastic , Can I ride my 96 , Dave ?

yes, if its the same colour as a 94- 95 model, if the stickers are different then you can`t. or maybe you can.

Wouldn't it have to be the same as a 94 model if it is pre95.
Everything after about 1989 looks the same to me how are they going to tell them apart.

By asking people who know, and have an interest in this era?

I mean, these look identical - I'd be surprised if the engineers who designed them could even tell them apart...

Honda & Yamaha are easy to determine frame model by the 10th digit in the vin. Engine not so easy.

To my knowledge Pre 95 has been introduced by one VMX club in Qld as a trial.

To the casual observer it seems the factories were putting more effort into who could come up with the most hideous fluoro graphics package than innovations on the bikes...

The bad acid trip graphics were a big part of what made the 90s awesome.

And the best/worst of the worst were the 92 RMs:

That said, it was an era of technical progress, just like every other era. USD forks, USD forks that didn't suck, back to RWU forks, better power delivery, multi-stage power valves, 19" rear wheels, perimeter frames, more-modern ergos, more modern handling, two-way adjustable forks, big footpegs, 54x54.x 125s becoming universal, dual-chamber forks, blah blah.
But of course, that all gets forgotten when you have graphics/colour schemes as awesome as this:

The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

youre a sick puppy Nathan!!!
There probably aren't too many bad bikes in that era though (apart from Al. framed Hondas), so I guess its harder to buy a dud..
probably was the golden era for the 2 stroke mxer.

1990 to 1994, I was 14 to 19 years old... So of course I was particularly impressionable, just like every other mid-teen has, is and will be...

Cool stuff Nathan,I'd forgotten what happened in the 90's.
I'd sort of written it all off after  disc brakes,p.valves, linkage sus etc.
Some of the stuff youv listed were important steps with the 2strokes that seem to be forgotten.
As you being a "young buck" you would know more about the progress during that period, lets hear more about that era.
