RM250Z (82) and D (83) frames

They sort of if your stuck. Same frame but they moved the mounting hole for the cushion lever further out. So it changed the suspension geometry

what and we're is the 'cushion' lever on the frame ?

Hi mate, "cushion lever" is also known as "bell crank" and is the rocker arm between the shock top mount and the struts that attach to the swing arm, it pivots on needle roller bearings with a bolt through the centre. Dproject is "the man" on these, I know the rocker/bell crank are different, the shock and struts and swingarm also different, I have owned/raced both models (a LOOONG time ago!) and didn't know the frame was different other than colour, maybe Dproject can throw some more light on it? Jason???  Both bikes in good nick are superb, the D is a little slower than the Z but was much easier to ride faster for longer back then

Pretty much summed it up right there Kt.
I had a stuffed 83 250 frame. I had a good 82 and I was able to take the cushion lever mounts from the 83 and cut and shut it into the 82 frame. As you said if you are going to do a swap you really need the rest of the rear end to suit.
