I am building my 400 Dirt Track bike.
I have a choice of a IT400D flywheel or a lighter YZ400D flywheel.
Which is better for Dirt Track?

Depends Who you talk to.
But I think the theory is that a heavy flywheel calms the revs a bit to give better drive without spinning up the back wheel
Maybe It would depend on the track surface?

I'm with Noel - depends on your style/preference and track conditions. Either experiment to find what you like or set it up to quickly go from one to the other.

i agree with noel plus lighter fly wheels make it harder to hold a smooth slide they tend to chop in and out of the slide as they break traction and then regain it

I use a ported Matador motor and the heavier enduro flywheel makes it pull like a freight train out of the corners and makes it very smooth to ride compared to the pursang motor.
