Shop that can re-build a honda CB450 twin crank?
« on: July 07, 2014, 09:52:33 pm »
Anyone know of such a miraculous place?
I think I'll need to try and get mine done as the rods are frozen and the whole thing will need refurbishment, otherwise it's pot luck with another used one or $5k for a NOS unit...(that's not going to happen me thinks)
These cranks are all pressed together and don't have a pin through the big end of the conrod, our local engine engineering shop doesn't want to know about it.
I'd imagine if it can be done it'll need the journals maybe welded up and re-ground, as they will probably be rust damaged.
Any ideas out there?

Can't say that I've seen a CB450 crank but it is not realy an option to weld the pins as they are case hardened.
sometimes it is possible to machine the crank webs out to take a press in pin. Pins could be made if needed but there could be other honda single rod kit that may work. Send me a PM if you need any more info.
