XL 350 or XT500 motor?
« on: June 15, 2014, 10:45:45 am »
So I've decided to build a new cafe type road bike.
Hoping someone here can help with this idea...
A lot of what I've read to date suggests that it could be a better proposition pound for pound, to run a modded XL 350 engine rather than the Yammie 500?

What say the panel/  :D

Nice!

Currently building a little xl street tracker - I was doing the ring around to try and find a 350cc in melbs and came across a bloke who is selling a bike with the big head kit 420cc all set up and ready to race(or roady) :D

Are you posting up the project someplace?

Yes your probably right about the bigger XL donk. I guess the reason I'd gone off that was the fact that I used to own an XL 500sb back in the day... not sure about the twin header pipe look plus I like the way that the carb sits out slightly on the older side port motor, though perhaps I'm just a nutter.  ;D

Both are excellent
XL is lighter but gearbox can have issues
XT/ SR is certainly proven.
