As a piece of trivia, Andy Haydon won the 1984 SA 24 hr Reliability
Trial on a TS250X.
He prob could have won on a 2 speed Vespa......without lights ;D

I owned a boltons special for a while when I gave up racing in 86. it was a disappointment after the race bikes and that was why I didn't like it. as a trail bike it was good. but I found it flat in the power despite all the extras done to it, the gear ratios were funny and the suspension soft despite all the mods done to it.
I bounced and banged and revved my way round a blue light on it once and was lucky not to kill my self trying to keep up with the "real bikes".

it was nice on the road that's for sure.

I found that anything you ran over flicked up and hit your shins (like trail bikes used to) so that didn't impress me much.

so after all the hype about an rm with lights I figured it wasn't.....

but looking at that bike there, nice clean example, hope the powervalve is still functioning (electric one I think). bushes are not flogged out to bad and the main bearings and seals are ok....then its close to the $$ I suppose. just not my cuppa

I have this model but it needs tlc , motor and gears back shocks all good but its rough, but I have ridden it, handles well I think. going to strip it down, paid $500 for mine but maybe looking at this one I might end up spending more. I like that its not a popular model makes for more interest in the project. Anyway good luck as I know I need it

NOT A POPULAR MODEL,
As a DUAL PURPOSE Bike they were very popular,
Probably the best 2smoke trail bike, I can't think of a better one

DT200 is not vinduro legal either as far as I know could be wrong though.

how did you get 40 hp out of a ts 250??? I know ::) spend so much money you could have bought a husky (husky is pooh on the road... 8))

I would be keen to see what you did as my ts although "boltonised" with an alloy muffler and rejetting wasn't overly powerfull.

There was a watercooled DT200L 1984 model.

I see, just what the husky125 guys had to do to keep up with the RM's etc.

its interesting in that suzuki changed their focus away from hard competition bikes to trail bikes and the reality is the market for softer non racing bikes was huuuugggee c/w weekend racers

on any weekend in Australia, approximately 2000 racers are out flogging around tracks in off road competition.

but Christ knows how many are knocking about in the scrub and on farms and that was the target market for Suzuki... so the PE goes and we get the TS.

weekend riders don't need quality suspension and plastic tanks....but it must look good. so the ts nails it.

but every so often they tease us with a reminder that they can make a good off road bike and they drop out the rmx....

And KTM are trying it too, with their cross-over bike...1/2 trail-1/2 trial. Ossa, Bully and some others tried it back in the 60s and 70s as well.

I had a DT200L, back in the early 90's. Very rare as they only sold them in 84 and 85. great little bikes.
