go do a welding course, get a WIA welding guide and the course will provide the manuals/specs, etc, then you will have all you need to get a greater range of uses out of the old arc welder, youll get rid of some bad habbits, you will find some new technics, have a better product application (ie use of low hi tc's, weld alls etc etc), be able to source appropriate information on the engineering side of the weldability of differant types of materials and what products to use ;)
