The magical moment
« on: May 29, 2014, 07:22:58 pm »
We all have them in this sport / hobby of ours . What was a recent one for you?
Mine was on Sunday when my 1933 BSA 500 burst into life , very satisfying moment .I have made dozens of newer 2 smoke come back from the death but hearing something this old ( 83 years ) go after being a basket case was really a cool feeling and a cool sound even has the obligatory backfire on deceleration :D 8)
If in doubt ,WIND IT OUT

Think its a toss up. Either finding another 185 or managing to hide it when I get it home. I can disassemble them but now she has started counting frames :'(

I can remember when I was 13 and the first engine I pulled down and reassembled. Also the relief/astonishment when it fired back up.

Good stuff Asasin.
One for me was winning a state title again after a 25yr lay-off....not easy to do as a passenger :D
Also going to the sidecar spectacular and kicking their bums. After the first race, which we won by 50 yards, I was keen to pack up and go home...had waited all my life to beat the southerners ;D
Lastly, last weekend, had my first race as a driver with my son on the side...didn't get anywhere, but had a ball together. 8)

G'day
My moment would have to be the first ride on a two stroke motorcross bike, after learning to ride on a Honda 90 and then progressing to an SL100, I had a chance for a ride on a worn out yz125e. Wow,never forgot the rush of that two stroke on the pipe, still hooked 30 years later, have ridden modern 4 strokes but the buzz is just not there, two stroke, best drug ever.
Cheers scotty

1976 at 16 years old - First day out in the New Territories of Hong Kong on my first Motocross bike, a Brand New RM125A - That first ride, riding around feeling the smooth power and the suspension, I knew that this was what I was meant to be doing.
