Pe250
« on: April 09, 2014, 10:11:19 pm »
Hi folks,
Ive just got myself a pe250. I know very little about them but i saw it cheap on ebay and a few click later i owned it.
From what i can work out its a 79n model ( frame 23273) So My question is this. How interchangeable are the parts with the later models? Or the 400s. Or even the rm of the same year. I pretty much just have the main frame and engine. Any advise would be great or a list of bits that would fit to help with the parts search would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Great bike, set the motor up to RM specs, straight core the muffler or get an alloy one and it will go like a jet. the stock shox are poooh, get some good ones set up for your weight. The forks are also not that good so you can explore options there. frostype400 has done some good work on his forks...flick him a PM for details or search his rebuild thread. good start...

Yes, that is a PE250N frame number. I would NOT alter the motor much, just clean it up and go have fun.
The later models (T/X/Z) had quite different frames and you will find that most of those parts will not help you with your B/C/N machines.

As Nobby suggested, go look at my 'onedrive' and you will find more PE information than you might expect.

There is also a Yahoo mailing list with about 300 PE people from around the globe on that.

To be blown away by some truly awesome restorations, go look at Fabrice's PE web site in France.

He has a beyond museum perfect PE400 in his lounge room and his garage can best be described as a PE shrine.
