just to revisit the frame lowering for a moment, here's my RT1 with the stock frame and suspension dropped to the floor and it's got an easy 6"-150mm of ground clearance. i'll be going for a 2" drop of the motor as that seems to be what everyone talks about. there's another bike here in brisbane thats already had the 2" mod and he's talking about doing up a spare frame with a 3" lowered motor.
i know it don't look real pre-70 with that tank but i kinda like it.
nice xs650 pic mx.

Vandy, put down that torch :P, put down that angle grinder :o, put down everything  ::). I think that is an RT2-MX and it has a lowered frame. It is not the same as the trailie.

I'm not an expert so ya betta check with others. It gotta a big brake drum off a DT or RT but ya betta check the frame numbers.

chill baby chill!
it started life out as the RT2, i put on the RT2MX tank/sidepanel with a MX125 seat and those forks are DT400 but the origionals are now refurbished and on the bike. i used that tank cause i was having trouble finding a nice RT/DT1 tank. i'd love to put the origional tank on it in a nice sky blue just for something different. so yeah, the angle grinder will have it's day on that frame. probably around xmas time when i'll have some more time to do it.
those DT/RT2MX's sure are sweet though.

I musta paniced ::). I looked at the pipe and I can remember thinking "I didn't think the pipes were the same for the rt and the RT2-MX!" Then I looked at the side plate and the seat and it looked sooo convincing - nice fraud >:(.

Proceed with your butchery  ;D.

Fraud? what on earth do you mean?
here's an early shot from the other side before it got the piston port barrel fitted.
the side panel is cut from an outdoor furniture chair. quite "bling" really...
