Need welder for Chrome Moly frame repairs in Sydney
« on: April 27, 2014, 09:55:18 am »
HI all, I have a mate in Sydney who has need of a "specialized welder" who would be capable of some fairly major repairs (Replacement of rusted bottom frame rails.)to a Rickman frame.
Is "moly" any more specialized than standard frame steel?
Any suggestions?

I could be wrong but are the Rickman's made from Renyolds tubing?  The actual welding is no big deal the choice of filler wire and post weld heat treatment is. Try Laurie Alderton in Sydney or send it down to Geoff at GMC

Thanks for the reply, I've passed in on.
I'm not really sure of the materials myself, just asking for him.  ;D But i do remember them being Reynolds tubing and after having had a Google, it seems yes, it's not ya average "Moly" steel.

Also dug up this old post...
