FYI: some pre-75 disc VMX brake documentation

Triple-disc 175 lbf (claimed) CZ250:

http://www.eurospares.com/graphics/CZJawa/LtWtCZ_CI051974.pdf

With the magazine lead times that CZ had to have been built in 1973.

The cover bike for that issue was a Rokon enduro with discs front and rear.

The May 1973 issue of Dirt Rider has an article on Red Line frames showing both Triumph and Honda XL-engined scramblers with what appear to be Hurst-Airheart rear discs.  It also shows Red Line's "new idea" box section swing arm with internal sliding block axle adjusters.  As with the earlier article, lead times mean that all probably dates from 1972.  The article was longer than I wanted to spend time scanning but if there's some interest in it I'll put it in the scanner queue.

cheers,
Michael

Thanks for putting that up, interesting article a time when people were experimenting a lot with different ideas ,today there is not much you can do with the modern bikes.

Front discs were common place in '84 John. Maybe the Husky team put a decent Honda front end on their bikes  ;D
