Harley Hummer
« on: February 04, 2014, 01:58:58 pm »
I know that many of you will look upon this as an old piece of shit and in a way you'd be right. However to me this thing reeks of somebody's low budget racing fun back in the fifties. It probably never won a race and who knows, it possibly may not have even finished one but to me this old survivor has more soul than a showroom full of modern plastic throw aways. It deserves to be preserved 'as is' in a museum in tribute to the thousands of racers that couldn't afford the bling.

1952 Harley Hummer 125

Very cool vintage Harley Hummer "racer"

No history on this one, purchased it at a country auction

Looks like it was raced in some amateur fashion, possibly by a kid?

Check out the custom exhaust...

Egine is locked solid, so is rear wheel

I have not laid a wrench on this, or even wiped it down

It is as found, after sleeping in a barn for the past forty or fifty years

No title

Someone will own this as I am selling with...

NO RESERVE!

I will assist with shipping, at buyers expense, domestically as well as Internationally

When looking at it you start thinking about what history it has. This is true VMX.

Couldn't agree more Mark, what a piece of history. I'd love to have that in the pool room but it should be in Dan's museum in Fresno. Besides that, it's already at $2000USD, with a couple of days yet to run.

Someone in the USA should buy it and donate it to Dan Rouits Flat Track museum http://www.vft.org/rouit.html as a counterpoint to the over restored big dollar race winners on display, as an example of what some young bloke in  Butte Fuque, Idaho raced because it was the only thing he could afford. I bet it'd raise a lot of smiles.

That is treasure to me too :)
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

It's official........ I'm getting old!  ;)
That is an absolute gem! I'd really hate for someone to buy it and 'restore' it.

And here I was thinking I was the only one who sees beauty in things like that little Harley. here's a restored one but I still prefer the patina'd one.

Sorry, but that restored jigger does nothing for me. All it's history has been erased. Then again, I did the same thing with my B44 much to the disgust of those that had seen it's original patina. In my defence, The bike couldn't be raced the way it was and I want to ride it.
