DC Plastics Tank Skins
« on: June 15, 2008, 08:22:31 pm »
Just come across these.....  Has anyone seen any DC Plastics tank skins in the flesh?  Do they look great or gumby?
They seem like a fantastic idea to cover over faded and stained beyond repair plastic tanks - especially the white KTM & Husky tanks that seem to go poxy real easy.  Keep fuel vapor away from the stickers too.

Cost is $75US which is not exactly cheap for what they are but damn site less than a new (unobtainable) tank or countless hours trying to sand and polish.

I heard rumour another manufacturer is doing complete sets of plastics including tanks and not just skins, great quality for 399 US, if i can just remember who said it, was also for 490 Maico but others available (maybe Maicoland, Maico madness but dont quote me on it)

on dc,s website , in the parts salvage , they have a yz 490 for sale ,fitted with a tank skin , proto type only , available for the 490 in 6 months , i thought it didn,t look too bad , the finish would match the rest of the body work as well as the decals would stay on , i reckon it would be a one way deal though , as dirt getting between skin and tank could  rub , clark tanks seem to look good , but seem bigger than std ( not sure ) i,m going to get a pair of  the skins when available just for the decal holding advantage , any body already got one ?
