« on: November 18, 2013, 08:51:04 pm »
Thinking about updating the old Keihin(badly worn slide and internals) Carb on the 1984 CR500 , what would an appropriate choice ?I notice that maybe a more updated Mikuni or maybe a flat slide might be the go , any suggestions on what works with this model. Any help appreciated.

Heaps of discussion on this topic on CR500riders.com forum.  Takes a bit of digging.  They all seem to recomend the PWK Carb.  A few of them have them off a KX500  :o

Lots of jetting info as well.  The place to go if you need info on a CR500 of any description  8)

The notes I took say :
PWK 38 or 39.5
Main 175
Pilot 48
Needle 1368 for 38, 1370 for 39.5
Clip 3
Cutaway 6
Idle 2

The KX 500 uses an odd size (39.5mm and makes a vast difference by all accounts)

Here's a new one

I'd love to hear back what you decided on and how it all went.

Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

"My inability to use emoticins in the right context is really getting me down :)
The only triple jumps he would have been doing are the hop, skip & jump.

thanks for all your helpful responses, I am settling on the PWK 39.5MM , I have some slight porting and compression issues to deal with, I will update how things are progressing. cheers.
