Zookmah. Yamooki. Bitsa, Hybrid.
« on: May 19, 2008, 09:21:22 am »
A new custom/hybrid on the build. AM I MAD. ???...  RM370 frame modified to fit TT/XT500 engine. The frame mods are excellent, done by a pro for sure. I wish I could take credit for this work of art but.. DAMN IT. I can not.  :(

All the hard work and frame mods has been done. Boxed head stem area, extra supports, mounts, recessed downtube for exhaust clearance, the lot. I slipped in my XT500 engine to see how things fit. Beautifully, that how they fitted.  ;D ;D Couldnt believe my luck with just how easily she slipped into place without grunting, cursing or breaking anything ( Bones that is lol  ;D ;D ) Perfect fit like it was ment to be their from the factory.
Im not saying that I wont run into troubles sliding this bike together cos I know nothing of who did this, when it was done or what it was used for. Oil tank brackets have been placed in the airbox area but I dont have the oil tank.

There was no swingarm, frontend or anything else found with the frame. The engine that is currently sitting in the frame belongs to my matching number XT500 so it wont be the power plant ill use, however a deal was agreed on yesterday for a complete XT500 engine in exchange for a paint work .. ;)

I not sure if I should build the bike up to run pre 78 or run pre 85, evo. To run in later classes I would almost be able to build up from parts I already have. To run pre 78 would mean tracking down the right front end at the very least.

How many projects! I have 13 on the go mate. As far as me projects go their are only 4 that are on top of the to do list CR250m, CR450RB, XT250 dirt tracker and this Zookmah 370 Hybrid.
Im gunna do some serious down sizeing shortly. Much rather have 10 good finished bikes then 50 piles of shit. Ummm projects.  ;D

The agreed deal with 500 engine has fallen apart.  :o. To make a long story sort I now also need a 500 engine too. Now im not sure if i'll go head with the project, i was not counting on having to purchase a stuffed engine from somewhere then rebuild the thing just to throw into a hybrid.  Thanks to the other forum members who have contracted me offering to trade parts for this project. I will honour our agreements regardless as I know you guys were counting on bits I have and i'll just tuck the traded parts away. Maybe a 500 engine in good order will turn up one day.  :D

Quicky,
Speaking of hybrids, I found a letter for you under the seat of my car with a xt article, posted it today.
Did you get onto Graeme?

If you go to the competion thread and look for QVMX Tamborine photo's, he is in the first lot of pictures the 7th on down.....Number 4 full lock slide....on the xt, they can do it.

Don't give up.  I currently have 6 different 500 yamaha projects in various stage kicking around in my shed along with another 4 bike that are stalled projects awaiting either parts or a lotto win.

My Husky frame 500, which I am about to rebuild onto another frame.

Why do things the easy way, when with a bit of effort you can really make it difficult for yourself!!
