Old pics for the Connoisseur
« on: November 05, 2013, 10:56:24 pm »

Don't ask me how to ride a bike or change a gear. I have sat on a couple but never ridden one. My adrenalin rush came from taking photos of the guys/gals racing them up close and personal.

79 Aussie Titles in WA. Neville Cutts #0 got to ride the Works Suzuki and won a title after Gunter cleaned up on it at Amaroo Mr MX.
And Pelle Granquist on the Husky walked away with a couple of titles.

And Pelle Granquist on the Husky walked away with a couple of titles.

The bike (RN) was then raced in two more meetings in Queensland, by Phil Thew Moto's rider Stewart McLachlan.

1. A Sunshine State Suzuki Series round at Tivoli
2. Then a week later at the Queensland 500 MX Champs at Conondale.

Gally won the title, but because he wasn't a Queenslander back then, Stewart was allowed to race with the Qld No 1 plate in 1980. I remember one of Stewart's comments (to his friends) was that he felt more comfortable on his RM 400 than on the works bike. Stewart was a real natural on a MX bike.

Has anyone got any pics of the old mx track at Kempsey NSW.
Apparently they had the NSW titles there a few times in late 70s and early 80s.
They shut the track down in 1988 cause there was no interest and money..
Was the first mx and local track i went to so it holds lotsa memories...
But never got around to racing on it,just tagged along with my mates for the day... :)
