No definately not, but I am a dreamer and proud of it. Following is the 1985 spec sheet for Maico models, including their water cooled 530cc 71hp Chair.

I believe a guy called Zabel, was actually a sidecar team mechanic/racer.

When the factory spoils got liquidated in 87, Zabel kept the maico big bore dream alive and eventually these monster horse power two smokers came to bear his name of course.

I think Vince down your way has a couple under the bench, that he wanted $1,500 for both.

Vince is the old Montessa dealer specialist everything euro repairer just north of Adelaide Brad.

I forget his surname and have lost my old paper teledexd directory.

He has been winding down selling off everything over the last few years.

I have seen other posts on here where people were asking for his contact details and they were responded to. I saved the link, on my old computer and it died. Good luck.

There was a complete Zabel engine on Ebay about three weeks ago and didn't sell. They fit all 86 frames and up.

Walter/Wasp has his details.

Here is the Ebay Zabel

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/motore-sidecarcross-motocross-maico-zabel-ktm-mth-650cc-/251343448281?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=RVKLxvVlqOguEi%252F%252FrLX8d8rH9gM%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

I dont know what/who MTH is? or what age this one is.
A late eighties Big bore Zabel would sure make a ferocious pre-90 Maico though. oy yoy yoy :P

Cool. I'm seriously considering a zabel top end to put on the 88 maico.

You'll need bigger arms, or a good passenger.

Vince is Russ' Dad Wally, or brother ?
