PROTEC TT500
« on: October 17, 2013, 10:46:24 pm »
hi,might be rehashing something thats been already covered on ozvmx  .interesting article in cycle guide nov79 issue about the Protec
TT500 based racebike that Rex Staten won the CMC 4 stroke c,ships on. dick mann frame,yz forks and wheels, fox air shocks,598cc eng.
bored 3mm/stroked 10mm,38mm mikuni carb,1 and 3/4 inch pipe and reverse megaphone, head work (std size valves)and cam.
they dynoed it and betters even current mxers for hp and torque, what have the f..ken engineers been doing for 30 odd yrs
(watching porn of julia gillard lookalikes maybe).

 rpm      3000      3500       4000     4500     5000     5500    6000     6500

  HP        21.6      26.1         34         38.3      43          44        44.4     46.2    rear wheel hp

 foot/lbs  37.8      39           44.6       44.6     45.2        42        38.9    37.3      torque

i would be happy with a 45hp @6000rpm air cooled carbed modern suspended bike with long engine life rather than a 50hp@9000rpm
injected thing with a short life span,is unneeded complexity really an advancement ?  Protec built one for rick johnson in 82 with OW suspension,15lbs lighter and 51hp@5500
article in Dirt rider jan83,can scan either art. if anyones interested    g
