Shaun is pissing in your pocket. Might be alright is a speedway four stroke using a 100 litres a minute of methanol that doesn't detonate at all. But with petrol and any 2T engine tuned to over 85% of it's potential it will promote detonation.
What it does is stop the heat path to the ring and cylinder wall. Without bare aluminium to absorb the combustion heat it is retained in the surface layer of the coating, then instantly heating the intake charge and stopping heat transfer to the cylinder wall via the ring.Fuel cools the piston how is fuel going to cool the piston with a barrier between them. With the piston coatings , Wossner coat all their pistons and RGv's have them standard depending on your oil and air filter maintenance is what determines how long the coating lasts. Never found any improvement on the dyno or lap times using coated pistons and have yet to see any measuered abatement in bore wear. Failng that I'll post a few pics of inside a factory Aprilia RSA engine with no forking coatings anywhere, ditto F1 engines.
One thing it is good at separating is you from some of your hard earned.
