AJS Stomer.

When did they cease production ???.

This guy reckons it's a '79. Looks about right by the suspension. I don't know if it's modified or production. By appearances it could be either ::).

The Mudcatcher suggest early '70's as modified. But with the Pommy factory's dodgy ways back then you would never know :-\.

l thought the last one, rolled off the production line in 1974, production may have continue into the late 70`s early 80`s.

The bike is genuine, Fluff brown bought all the Stormer stuff and built them for many years more after Norton Villiers gave up. Nick, his son still runs the firm , though they mostly import and sell Chinese machines. He might still build you a brand new Stormer if you waved the right amount of cash in front of him ;D  http://www.ajsmotorcycles.co.uk/   Try this. ;D

So Fluff sold modified bikes?

These look like AJS forks with 'added ons' welded on.

This looks like the OEM AJS swingarm with the mounts moved forward (and an interesting reinforcing gusset).

The bike is not modified, it is standard production for that year,
The forks are AJS with extensions welded on , tend to be  bit flexible and it is a standard swinging arm to which the reinforcing was added.

Villiers Starmaker facebook pages have been pretty quiet since its beginning.Myself and Rob Wicks (South Africa) seemed to be the only ones posting on it.
So having not visited for a while I can across this yesterday, understandably why its been quiet.

My Dad "Fluff Brown" quietly passed away yesterday July 4th at Millway House care home, Weyhill, Andover, Hants. He had been suffering with vascular dementia. We are deeply missing him but feel at ease now that his suffering has ended.
To me, he was inspiring, a friend and my partner.
RIP VMX Legend
