Formal Introduction
« on: August 02, 2013, 10:00:06 pm »
Hi Guys thought it was about time I introduced myself. I have been lurking about the forum for a few years now and made the odd post here and there but have never made a formal introduction so here goes.

I am 44 years old. Started riding about 1985 and was involved mostly in trail riding and the odd enduro in the late 80s, early 90s. Then i got married, started a family and got a mortgage. Like most young couples this left us with little cash and dirt bikes were low on the priority list. After a few years things started to improve (this was about 1996) and i told the wifey i wanted another bike and so i purchased a 1986 250 Maico, it needed a bit of work so i did a mild resto on it and then enjoyed getting back into riding. But i discovered that i enjoyed fixing the bike just as much as the riding so i started to look for something else to do up and picked up a 1979 RM125N from a guy i was going to TAFE with and gave it the treatment as well. Then I came across VMX magazine and discovered the history of the sport. Along the way i picked up more bikes and the list also includes in not particular order.

1979 XL500, 1981 YZ465, 1980 CR250,1980 RM250, 1980 RM125 fitted with xl185 donk, 1984 Husky 125 enduro, 2 x KDX175, 1987 KDX200, PE175 , 1990 KTM 250, 91 WR500 , plus 2 road bikes, 71 Honda CB750 plus a 93 sportster. I also have new KTM300exc (this thing is awesome). I ride nearly every week end and during the week I am a postie so yeah I like to ride.

Most of the old bikes need restoring, i am about to give the RM 125N a freshen up.

Cheers

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.
